EuroCert offers its own services for payment service providers (PSPs) that meet the information flow security and authentication requirements set out in the Payment Services Directive (PSD2).Our certificates: qualified electronic seal (QSEAL PSD2) and qualified website authentication certificate (QWAC PSD2), allow us to meet the requirements and regulations arising from the PSD2 directive imposed on account servicing payment service providers (ASPSP) and external payment service providers (TPP) operating in the European Union. The certificates presented ensure the authenticity, confidentiality and integrity of communications and provide legally binding evidence of transactions and content.
The “PSD2 Electronic Seal” product does not include the QWAC Website Authentication Certificate.
What certificates does a payment service provider need under the PSD2 directive?
Such an entity is obliged to have two types of qualified certificates:
Qualified website authentication certificate (QWAC PSD2) – which allows you to verify the identity of the entity, encrypt and authenticate transmitted data in peer-to-peer communication.
Qualified electronic seal (QSEAL PSD2) – to place a digital signature on transmitted data and ensure its integrity and authenticity. The seal certificate contains information about the entity and its role:
– account servicing payment service provider (ASPSP),
– Account Information Service Provider (AISP),
– payment initiation service provider (PISP),
– payment service provider issuing card-based payment instruments (PIISP)
